Our Family

Our Family

As mentioned in the 'about us' section, we have two children, Tom (8) and Molly (5). We also have a large extended family of pets that mostly drive Fred mad J.

Firstly there is Schnitzel, our red Daschund who thinks he’s actually a Rottweiler except for when he’s climbing on to clients laps. We also have Frankie, our sweet little black and tan Daschund who likes coming down to the horses when she can be bothered getting out of bed. A new addition is Leo, or Obe as he gets called. Obe is a rescued Flat Coat Retriever from S.A.F.E. who is the most gorgeous boy and who’s main job is to meet and greet all our clients and do water depth testing in the dam.

We have three cats who are all horsey and like to help to muck out each day and help by regularly pooing in Fred’s roundyard. There’s Richie the black panther; Harriet, the old grey tabby who comes down for regular tool shop meetings with Fred in the mornings, and Meow, our stunning white Burman who is always to be found on the hay stack.

We also have Lenny and Lorna, our two pet sheep, who run a program for the horses called "Sheep Desentization". This normally consists of them running up to the fence when Fred first rides out on newly started horses. Fred's not a huge fan of the programme but they think it's worthwhile. The chickens run a similar operation called " Border Security", from their pen which is also great fun (not).

Then of course the horses. Firstly we have Forest, our wonderful black QH lead horse who we’re very fortunate to have on loan from our friends Maike and Andrew. Forest is the world’s most reasonable horse and he will put up with pretty much anything, provided there’s a feed at the end of it. We also have the spiffy looking bay tobiano mare, DJ, who is a previously wild horse from Gunnadorrah Station, and was rescued in 2006. DJ is still a wild horse due to Fred never having time to work with her, but she sure does brighten up the scenery and can be handled when necessary.

A new addition to the family is the absolutely gorgeous Lilly, Fred’s mare who I’m actually a bit jealous off, he loves her so much. She’s a very classy Arab/WB from Brookdale Park. We may well see her and Fred out on the dressage circuit next year, depending on whether Fred will agree to wear joddies or not.

We also have Archie, our very handsome brumby gelding, whose mum Joanna was rescued from Prenti Downs in 2009. Archie is rising two and may turn out to be a great lead horse in the future but is currently just growing up in the paddock. Finally we have Jackie the kids pony who has the important job of lawn mower, float companion and general PR here.

Our pet population does fluctuate a bit but the above are all permanent residents.
