Our
Methods
Fred has always been very open-minded and keen to learn different
methods. Over the years he has adapted and developed techniques
to work with each individual horse, depending on that particular
horse’s requirements.
In
2006, a lucky Google search by Rachel on feral horses led
her to the Horseproblems Australia website. The next three
days were spent reading! Fred had originally mouthed and started
horses with the long reining method, however John O’Leary’s
mouthing system and methods made so much more sense. Not only
were these methods more effective for starting horses under
saddle, but they were also effective with rehabilitating and
re-training horses.
John’s mouthing system provided a way to prevent horses
from learning how to buck, along with a way to re-educate
horses of any age that have begun displaying undesirable behaviour
for whatever reason. Most importantly, John’s system
provided the average, even fairly novice rider with the ability
to stop a horse from displaying the above mentioned behaviour.
The system provided some similar yet more sophisticated methods
of training to those Fred was already using.
Fred added John’s mouthing system and other methods
to his training and has never looked back. Most importantly
to Fred and Rach, the handing over of horse to owner has become
an absolute pleasure. And Fred now has an answer to any problem
or issue with any horse and can start horses of any age and
background. Thanks John!
Fred has also had the pleasure and honour of being asked to
assist John O’Leary at the two Horseproblems Australia
clinics that John and Linda have held in Perth. Please see
our ‘Gallery’ section
for photos taken at both clinics.
